Abstract:
The paper deals with the development time and content overview of the diagnosis related group payment system. This payment system was initially introduced as a managerial tool for decreasing costs and improving effectiveness. The diagnosis related group payment system followed the development of medicine and contributed to developing a system of quality and safety of patients. During the last decade, some countries have started ‘pay for performance’ programmes for the quality of healthcare delivered. The present trend of integrative healthcare will result in another adjustment in the system of reimbursement in healthcare.
