Abstract: The paper deals with some crucial issues of the relationship between the European Union and the North-American Free Trade Agreement or NAFTA. NAFTA and its functional structure are briefly described in the paper, and possible gains and losses from a confrontation between NAFTA and the EU are discussed. The author's view of the potential benefits for Poland from a closer cooperation with NAFTA are also presented in the final section of the paper.
