Abstract: The aim of the paper is to provide an answer to the question which phenomenon is a more accurate reflection of Poland's external imbalance: international investment position or external debt. In the first and the second part of the study the definitions and essence of both categories have been explored, in the third and fourth - tendencies in international investment position and the level of external debt, whereas the last part evaluates the external imbalance in Poland.
