Abstract: For automotive companies, research and development is the key to success for new generation of products. The aim of this article is to accent the importance of innovations and innovations-focused projects in automotive industry. Relevance of co-operation between automotive industry and educational institutions is noticed in the article, too. Furthermore, history of automotive industry in Slovakia is outlined in the article. Main part of the article is focused on project AUTOCLUSTERS.
