Abstract: There are presented in this report, seven case studies of the uses of statistics in the past and present. I do not intend these examples to be exhaustive. I intend them primarily as educational examples for readers who would like to know: What is statistics good for? Also, to encourage the readers to study detailed reports from the 13 International Year of Statistics given in the notes of this report.
