Abstract:
Shortages of skilled workers are now widespread on the Austrian labor market. This results in serious locational disadvantages such as rising labor costs and a lack of personnel to develop and make use of innovations. Austria should therefore launch a comprehensive skilled labor campaign soon. This should correct the framework conditions that currently hinder satisfactory labor market integration of women, older people and migrants, as well as improve employee mobility, since productivity reserves can be leveraged through better job matches.
