Abstract: Labour productivity is an important determinant of competitiveness. for competitiveness. It is significantly influenced by the total factor productivity. In Austria, as in most other industrialized countries, growth in labour productivity and total factor productivity has considerably in recent decades. The starting points for reviving productivity growth are the promotion of investment and research and development as well as strengthening competition and the risk capital market.
