Abstract:
Austria's prosperity depends to a large extent on exports. The proportion of internationally active companies in the Austrian manufacturing industry has increased steadily in recent years. Exporting companies are on average larger, more productive, pay higher wages and salaries and invest more than companies that do not export. A small group of very export-oriented companies is responsible for a large part of Austria's export volume.
