Abstract:
The study is attempted to see the relationship between banks credit and economic growth in North East India. In case of economic development North East India is still in back compared with other sates of India. Using the panel data for North East India from 1999- 2007 the study found that banks credit to different segments of North East India doesn’t have much impact on economic growth. The main reason for this is mainly because of default in payment and lack of monitoring by the authorities.
