Abstract: Seit Mitte 1989 ist die Aufwärtstendenz der Konjunktur schwächer geworden. Der Warenexport ist auf einen flacheren Wachstumspfad eingeschwenkt, Produktion und Auftragseingang der Industrie waren gemäß den saisonbereinigten Daten im August und September rückläufig. Auch der WIFO-Index der vorauseilenden Indikatoren signalisiert die langsamere Gangart der Konjunktur. Sie bedeutet aus heutiger Sicht nur eine Atempause im Wachstum von Nachfrage und Produktion, nicht aber eine Trendumkehr.
