Abstract: Größe und Entwicklungsniveau eines Landes beeinflussen seine internationale Verflechtung durch Direktinvestitionen. Der Zusammenhang zwischen Entwicklungsniveau und Direktinvestitionsposition läßt sich vereinfacht durch einen Entwicklungszyklus erfassen. Von der Landesgröße hängen zwar die ausländischen Direktinvestitionen im Inland, nicht jedoch die eigenen Direktinvestitionen im Ausland ab.
