Österreich im EWR. Gesamtwirtschaftliche Auswirkungen

Abstract: Der Europäische Wirtschaftsraum (EWR) ist im Integrationsprozeß in Europa eine Zwischenstufe. Zwar beabsichtigt er die Vorteile des EG-Binnenmarktes auf die EFTA auszudehnen, eine volle und gleichberechtigte Integration der EFTA in die EG ist aber nur durch einen EG-Beitritt möglich. Das WIFO hat (basierend auf dem aktuellen Wissensstand) die gesamtwirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen einer EWR-Teilnahme Österreichs mit Modellsimulationen geschätzt. Mittelfristig sind die zu erwartenden Integrationseffekte (ein um 2,3% höheres reales BIP) zwischen den Auswirkungen einer Nichtmitgliedschaft in der EG (ohne EWR) – ein um 1,5% höheres reales BIP – und den Wachstumseffekten einer EG-Mitgliedschaft – ein um 3,6% höheres reales BIP – angesiedelt.
