Abstract: Der Umbruch im Osten hat sich bisher für Österreich vor allem positiv ausgewirkt: Die Ausfuhr nach Ost-Mitteleuropa verdoppelte sich innerhalb von drei Jahren, die Ostverschuldung sank um 10 Mrd. S. Der zeitliche Vorsprung der EG im Abschluß der Freihandelsverträge könnte sich aber für Österreich ungünstig auswirken.
