Abstract: Die internationale Bedeutung Wiens wird auch davon abhängen, ob die Wiener Industrie die neuen Chancen, die sich aus der Ostöffnung und der europäischen Integration ergeben, zu einem Modernisierungsschub nutzen kann. Der Aufbau eines wettbewerbsfähigen Wissens- und Organisationskapitals, begleitet von einer flexiblen Spezialisierung, wäre strukturpolitisch wünschenswert. Die Erreichung dieses Ziels wird entscheidend von der Innovationsfähigkeit der Wiener Industrie beeinflußt, die im vorliegenden Beitrag mit Hilfe der Daten des Technologie- und Innovationstests des WIFO analysiert wird.
