Abstract: Seit 1993 hat sich der Saldo der Leistungsbilanz zunehmend verschlechtert. Zentrale Ursachen sind Konjunkturfaktoren, Auswirkungen der Wechselkursentwicklung und Effekte der Nachfragestruktur. Strukturprobleme bestehen vor allem in der Entwicklung der relativen Preise im Tourismus und den Auswirkungen des Beitritts zur EU auf die Transferbilanz.
