Abstract: Österreichs klein- und mittelbetriebliche Struktur erfordert als Hauptstrategie der Technologiepolitik eine starke Diffusionsorientierung. Eine neue Wettbewerbssituation und Österreichs EU-Mitgliedschaft erfordern eine strategische Ausrichtung der Technologiepolitik auf die Notwendigkeiten der österreichischen Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft, die Bündelung und Koordination vorhandener Ressourcen zur Effizienzsteigerung, die Anbindung an internationale Innovationssysteme und den Einsatz moderner Managementmethoden und innovativer Instrumente.
