Abstract: Die Belebung der europäischen Konjunktur und die Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit ließen die österreichische Wirtschaft 1997 um 2½% wachsen. Die entschieden betriebene Budgetkonsolidierung dämpfte die Inlandsnachfrage relativ wenig, da die privaten Haushalte ihre Sparquote verringerten.
