Abstract: Wie im Ausland war die makroökomische Entwicklung 2019 in Österreich von einem Nachlassen der Dynamik geprägt. In Österreich wurde das BIP-Wachstum hauptsächlich vom Konsum der privaten Haushalte, den Dienstleistungsbranchen und der Bauwirtschaft getragen, während die Schwäche von Industrie und Außenhandel die gesamtwirtschaftliche Entwicklung dämpfte. Die sich abzeichnende Erholung der Industriekonjunktur wurde durch die zur Bekämpfung der COVID-19-Pandemie Mitte März 2020 gesetzten Maßnahmen abrupt beendet.
