Abstract:
We propose a generalized multinomial discriminant procedure for classification on discrete spaces. Both the mechanics and the asymptotic optimality of the method are discussed. An application of the proposed procedure to combined classification, as well as the conditions under which the resulting combined classifier is asymptotically optimal, are also discussed.
