Mobilization of finance for rural housing development in Nigeria

Journal of International Development, 1991, vol. 3, issue 4, 515-529
Abstract:
There is a potential for mobilizing rural savings in Nigeria to improve housing, a neglected sector of social development in the countryside. Housing finance, as banking more generally, has been characterized by urban bias. Several proposals for developing rural housing finance are put forward, including adapting models of successful barefoot banking in other countries to the rural environment of Nigeria.
