Abstract: The base set of primitive zero‐symmetric sign pattern matrices with zero diagonal is {1, 2, …, 2n − 1}. In this paper, the primitive zero‐symmetric sign pattern matrices with zero diagonal attaining the maximal base 2n − 1 are characterized.
