Journal of Applied Mathematics, 2012, vol. 2012, issue 1

Abstract: Numerical investigation of mixed convection flow in a concentration‐stratified fluid‐saturated vertical square porous enclosure is investigated by Galerkin finite element method. The forced flow conditions are imposed by providing an inlet at the bottom wall and an outlet with a suction on the top wall. The free convection is induced by introducing a hot but isothermal temperature on the left vertical wall together with Boussinesq approximation on density. Numerical results are presented by tracing the cumulative heat and mass fluxes, streamline and isotherms of the fluid for a wide range of governing parameters such as suction/injection velocity “a”, suction/injection width (D/H), mass stratification parameters (SC), Rayleigh number “Ra”, buoyancy ratio “B”, and Lewis number “Le”.
