Abstract:
The industrial harzardous waste problem is going to be explosive in developing countries as they industrialize further. This paper examines the hazardous waste problem, highlights some toxic waste types, and provides a list of industries that generate most of those wastes. Technological, economic and institutional measures that could be combined to mitigate the hazardous waste problem in developing countries are described, and recommendations for dealing with the problem are presented.
