The Impact of China's Green Emission Policies on Non‐Road Mobile Construction Machinery

Abstract: The Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment has issued regulations on emission limits for pollutants from diesel engines used in non‐road mobile machinery, requiring that from 2015 onwards, the emission standards for diesel engines used in products manufactured and sold by non‐road mobile machinery manufacturing enterprises must meet the requirements of China's National Standards Stage III and IV diesel engines at corresponding time stages. This study investigates the impact of these green emission policies on the non‐road mobile construction machinery industry. This study assesses the effect of these green emission policies on the non‐road mobile construction machinery sector, a key industry in China's environmental efforts. Since 2015, the sales volume of major non‐road construction machinery products has achieved a compound average growth rate of 17.26%. At the same time, emissions of hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM) from major non‐road mobile construction machinery have been 6.92%. This research uses a correlation coefficient theoretical model for correlation analysis, identifying a statistically significant linear negative correlation between the sales volume of major non‐road mobile construction machinery products and the emissions of pollutants such as HC. In conclusion, the finding indicates that green emission policies have led to a sustained decrease in emissions of pollutants while ensuring sustainable growth of non‐road mobile construction machinery. These results have broader implications for environmental policy and for industrial practice.
