Abstract:
In the Altai permafrost exists which is confined to burial mounds dated at 2000‐2500 years old. This indicates that, under favourable conditions, permafrost may occur at elevations 1000m lower than is commonly believed at present. Dans l'Altaï, les seuls ǐlots connus de pergélisol sont des buttes cryogènes vieilles de 2000 à 2500 ans. Elles indiquent que, sous des conditions favorables, un pergélisol peut exister à des altitudes de 1000m inférieures aux limites connues aujourd'hui.
