With financial support from the American Enterprise Institute, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Ford Foundation, 15 credentialed poverty specialists worked together for 14 months in an environment of “open‐mindedness” and “civility” and concluded that working together to reduce poverty rested on three interconnected values that all Americans share: opportunity, responsibility, and security.
