Abstract:
In recent years, sustainability at the community level has drawn attention from academic circles. However, no studies attempt to comprehensively explore the research field reflecting sustainability at the community level (hereinafter referred to as SC field). To fill this knowledge gap, this study makes an unprecedented attempt to draw the general aspects, intellectual structure and conceptual evolution of the SC field from 1992 to 2020. Using a set of sustainability‐related terms to delineate the boundary of the SC field, a total of 416 journal articles published in the databases of Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) were used to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Interpretation of main findings of the bibliometric analysis and implications for future trends of the SC field have been discussed. This study can provide a new reference for scholars to better understand the research status and knowledge domains of the SC field.
