Abstract: This article reports on an experiment to apply a model‐driven approach for systems engineering in an industrial context. This experiment consisted of setting up a model‐driven simulation environment for a maritime surveillance system. The simulation is fully based on three models, each conforming to a specific metamodel. We discuss the main advances given by model‐driven orientated simulation for systems engineering. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Syst Eng
