Meeting the Challenge of Educating the Transportation and Logistics Professional: The American Society of Transportation and Logistics on the 50th Anniversary of Transportation Journal

Transportation Journal, 2011, vol. 50, issue 1, 84-90
Abstract:
The 50th anniversary of Transportation Journal represents a key milestone for transportation and logistics professionals. During the last 50 years, the profession has emerged from what Peter Drucker (1962, 103) aptly described as the “Dark Continent” to one in which transportation or logistics frequently appears in the title of senior executives. Transportation Journal and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) have played key roles in this transformation by promoting education and preparing individuals for careers in the profession.
