Abstract:
This article investigates the major attributes in determining port attractiveness from the perspective of service providers. This was accomplished by conducting a questionnaire survey of ports located in Asian and Latin American countries. In comparing the present survey results with those of earlier surveys of service users (that is, shipping lines) by Ng (2006), special attention was paid to whether the perceptions of service providers and users conflicted with each other. This article provides constructive insight on port attractiveness, and offers a foundation for further research on port attractiveness and competition.
