Abstract:
The research in multi-agent systems, like the one in economics, has paid little attention to the question of power. This is perhaps due to the fact that power is a hard topic to tackle from the methodological individualistic perspective that has influenced both disciplines. A dependence network built upon a simple concept of dependence is used as a simulation model aimed at exploring the consequences of power on a preliminary basis. Three questions are addressed: (a) in what ways the power relations impose structure upon society?; (b) how they structure groups internally?; (c) how they differentiate groups and individuals in relation to their conditions of existence?.
