China–Middle East Relations: New Developments, New Challenges

Zhiqun Zhu

East Asian Policy (EAP), 2020, vol. 12, issue 04, 90-101

Abstract: The Middle East is a key region in China’s diplomacy due to its role as the largest supplier of oil to China and its strategic location. China is one of the few foreign powers that have maintained good relations with all countries in the region. However, as the intensifying US–China strategic rivalry spreads to the region, China’s relations with Middle Eastern countries are facing serious challenges.
