Abstract: This paper calculates the degree of variation or fluctuation that the demand curve for electricity in Colombia had, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, using the fractal dimension (FD), which is a quantitative estimator of spatial complexity. To quantify the variation in the electric power demand curve, it is necessary to make two estimates of different scenarios: pre-pandemic and post-pandemic.The conventional methods for the analysis of the real demand curves of electrical energy have not studied this variable, being a new parameter that can be included in the aforementioned study. It is then a new contribution that expands universal knowledge on the subject.
