Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyze the major variables influencing the political behavior of MIS professionals in information system development (ISD). The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is used to create the research model. We found that (1)Attitude, subjective norm, perceived political behavior controlandperceived political efficacyhave different effects on MIS professionals' intention with regard to political behavior in four scenarios; (2) Machiavellism significantly affects MIS professionals'attitudes, subjective norms, perceived political behavior controlandperceived political efficacyin four scenarios; (3) As the types of power of MIS professionals are dynamic, no constant relationship exists between the types and the kinds of political behavior displayed in ISD.
