Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to thoroughly examine the value leakage, both qualitatively and quantitatively, in telecom infrastructure projects using Ghana as the case study. The study used an exploratory sequential mixed-methods approach. A semi-structured interview was utilized in the qualitative study to investigate and generate relevant practical insights from the four case studies. The quantitative study used a structured questionnaire survey in which 81% of the 230 questionnaires distributed were returned to test and validate the qualitative study’s findings using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The researchers analyzed the data using Atlas TI, SPSS, and AMOSS version 25.0. The findings indicate that value leakage has tolerable and intolerable points. The intolerable point has two key impacts on telecom infrastructure projects, namely “financial impact†and “brand image impact†, with standardized regression weights of 0.791 and 0.910, respectively. These findings contribute to the development of value in the contemporary literature in the field of telecommunication. Again, these findings would edify the understanding of the practicing managers about project value leakage that may conventionally be seen as a mistake in their effort to achieve the project’s value.
