Abstract: Knowledge management is one element that determines success of new product development. This study explores how knowledge management is interrelated with new product development so that resource-limited organisations can break down knowledge management processes and focus on those most critical. With insights gained from existing literature, a framework is proposed focusing on integration of knowledge management processes and various perspectives (long and short term) of new product development. In order to verify and demonstrate this framework, application within a medium-sized manufacturing company in New Zealand is discussed. This study aims to improve current poor performance of knowledge management among companies, allowing these companies to better understand their knowledge management practices.
