Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to provide a brief introduction to the current status and future prospects of capital markets in Taiwan. Annual summary statistics of stocks traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange are presented. In addition, summary of statistics of stocks and bonds traded on OTC of Taiwan is also discussed, and ownership structure of the companies listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange is analyzed. Finally, future perspectives of equity markets in Taiwan are analyzed in some detail.
