Abstract: Intensity oscillations during MBE growth are simulated by periodic arrays of steps using dynamical multiple scattering theory of RHEED. Our results show that the oscillations depend strongly upon the scattering geometry. Phase effects, double periodicity, etc. observed in experiments can be explained within the framework of dynamical scattering. Conditions for which a simple interpretation of the oscillations can be made are also discussed.
