Abstract:
The transformation of NO andNO2on cold-deposited silver films (30-40 K) has been investigated by SERS under UHV conditions. After exposure with doses of NO we observed strong signals of${\rm{NO}}_2^ - $,N2O, and atomic oxygen and weak signals of physisorbedN2but none of NO. The reactions ofNO2on the surface are exposure dependent and yields the formation of${\rm{NO}}_2^ - $,${\rm{NO}}_3^ - $, and the dimerised speciesN2O4.
