Abstract:
The C1s-12πu1Πustate of a linear moleculeCO2splits into two states. The lower state becomes bent and the upper state remains linear. As a direct probe of this Renner–Teller effect, the bent and linear geometries of the Renner–Teller pair states have been probed by means of triple-ion-coincidence momentum imaging.
