Abstract:
SiCcoating for carbon/carbon composites was prepared by pack cementation method. The effects of coating process on the microstructure and the mechanical properties ofC/Ccomposites were analyzed by SEM and three-point bending test, respectively. As the infiltratedSiimproved the interfaces bonding during the coating process, the flexural strength and flexural modulus ofSiC-coated carbon/carbon composites were both increased by about 10% than the nakedC/Ccomposites. In addition, the mechanism of the change of failure mode ofSiCcoatedC/Ccomposites and nakedC/Ccomposites was addressed.
