Abstract:
Gas-atomized amorphousCu54Zr22Ti18Ni6powders were sprayed onto a steel substrate by the kinetic spraying method to make an amorphousCu54Zr22Ti18Ni6coating. The oxidation behavior of the coating was studied over the temperature range 573–769 K in air. The oxidation products were primarilyCu2O,CuO,β-ZrO2,ZrTiO4, andCu. Copper oxides were the major oxides. Preferential oxidation ofCuoccurred around the surface of the coating.
