On probabilistic interpretation of fuzzy numbers

Stanisław Heilpern ()

Operations Research and Decisions, 2003, vol. 13, issue 4, 61-73

Abstract: The paper is devoted to probabilistic interpretation of fuzzy numbers. The relationships between the fuzzy numbers and the interval random set are studied. The ordering of fuzzy numbers based on the stochastic dominance and the defuzzification problem based on the functional representation of preference relation and random simulation are presented. The problems of approximation of the fuzzy numbers by the crisp intervals and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are investigated.
