Abstract:
This paper measures the relationshipbetweenenvironmental innovations and employment in Ecuador, which is analyzed through the ACTI survey (2012-2014) conducted by the INEC (2015) through an endogenous selection model that includes at the same time the decision by companies to innovateand the incidence in the employment. This model was carried out in two stages: in the first, we estimate the process and product innovation, while in the second stage we estimate the natural logarithm of the number of employees. For this analysis, it was found that for innovations in product and process, variables such as public support and being an environmentally innovative company have a positive effect on probability; however, companies innovate environmentally have a negative impact on employment.
