Abstract: Previous evidence such as Garner (1991) and Throop (1992) suggests that confidence index could be useful in periods of major economic shocks. This, due to the fact that changes in demand patterns could be associated with the volatility of consumer confidence. This document presents the development of the agricultural confidence index in Ecuador, which aims to provide additional information for the prediction of commercial activity. Within this document, its information pillars and the data operability are briefly explained.
