Abstract:
In this research, Ecuadorian coffee exports are analyzed since it is considered a non-traditional product of great commercial value, as well as shrimp, fish and flowers, which are products that are well received in the international market. The objective of this work is to analyze how the competitiveness of Ecuadorian coffee exports has evolved against Brazil and Colombia in the periods 2008-2019, in addition to carrying out a comparative analysis of coffee exports from Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil to the U.S. market using indicators such as export and import quotas, Balassa specialization and the intra-product trade indicator. The results showed that Ecuador has a reduced competitiveness due to the lack of strategies and low productivity, in addition to low prices and poor training of producers.
