Abstract: Since the ancient times, cities have attracted visitors in large numbers for a variety of reasons. In modern times, once again, large cities are competing among themselves for attracting tourists. Although, large cities have always attracted visitors but until recently, with the exception in cities like London, Paris, New York, and few others, tourist industry has not been perceived as a significant economic activity, nor have these cities been classified as tourists centres. In the last quarter century city tourism has become a key source of revival of large cities. This article revisits some of the key issues of urban tourism.
