Perceptions of Sustainability vs. Quality Features – An Experimental Study on Young Consumers' Quality Perceptions of Foods and Beverages

Goetz Walter, Selina Leser, Hannes Ottmann and Kim Hartmann

Marketing Review St.Gallen, 2023, vol. 40, issue 2, 36-42

Abstract: This study explores young consumers' perceptions of ecological and social sustainability features in comparison to common quality features for foods and beverages. Two online experiments demonstrate that sustainability features – in contrast to common quality features – lead to higher perceived quality and purchase intention of associated products.
