Artificial intelligence in family-owned tourism businesses

Florian Sexl and Anita Zehrer

Marketing Review St.Gallen, 2024, vol. 41, issue 4, 34-39

Abstract: The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across industries represents a significant shift that has the potential to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and creativity. This conceptual paper emphasizes the profound impact of AI on automation and innovation in the tourism and hospitality sector, which is largely run by entrepreneurial families. We highlight the importance of examining the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating AI into these businesses by presenting six assumptions, with a particular focus on socioemotional wealth and resource-based theory.
