Economic prospects of Pakistan and Bangla Desh

Dieter W. Vogelsang

Intereconomics – Review of European Economic Policy (1966 - 1988), 1972, vol. 07, issue 8, 248-250

Abstract: Pakistan was built upon a common religion as the ideological basis for forming a state, but the experiment foundered. The peoples of West and East Pakistan were too different for enabling this bracket to sustain natural divergencies over a geographical gap of nearly 1300 miles. The main cause for the split were the economic relations between the two parts of the state.
